Have you ever tried sketching with your non-dominant hand? My drawing tutor at university wanted us to do that for an hour and it turned out to be mind-blowing! The lines become more rough and edgy, however, I think it gives them a more vivid and interesting look comparing to the stereotypical lines you usually draw. I am now trying to transfer that rougher style onto my right-handed sketches :)

I'm ambidextrous:P
However, I do typically draw with my right as a result of school teachers pestering me with their cries of 'but your right handed!' I didn't discover that I was ambidextrous until i was older when I was able to play badminton with either hand and I kept on switching hands. It was my PE teacher who discovered it. I can write with both hands reasonably well, but I have never tried drawing with my left. I will certainly try it in the future:D

I trained to write with my left hand but didn't draw with it yet. Definitly going to try it out!

Yep! I've done a portrait half with my right hand, half with my left... the left side took much longer and a whole lot more concentration than the right ;)

Yes. It was when I had an accident and then I learned to paint the other hand.

Are you better at using your left hand now? Or do you always need practice to get into it again? :)

Ja genau. Hast du dabei auch so gute Erfahrungen gemacht? Zumindest beim Skizzieren? :)

Sounds interesting! I'll definitely try it... Once I get the hang of writing with it first. My alphabet look like cavemen writings.

It's not about being able to draw proper lines at all :) it's actually more about NOT being able to draw the lines as you are used to. Try drawing organic material with your left hand and you'll see how your sketch will look totally different than with your right hand. The whole class I'm in agreed on how they now want to draw with their non-dominant hand now. I think there are also artists who completely gave up drawing with their dominant hand :)
